A resale is when the owner of a shared ownership home wants to sell their share.
Buying a resale shared ownership home
Resale homes are an excellent opportunity to buy established properties. These are not new build properties, but are homes that have been put on the market to sell by their owners. It’s just like finding a home you love through a local estate agent but with the added benefits of shared ownership.Visit our properties page to see our all available properties for sale and resale.
Looking to sell your shared ownership home?
If you are homeowner and you want to sell your property there are different requirements in the leases for leaseholders and shared owners.
We typically have a nomination clause in your lease to find a buyer for your share. Usually this nomination period is for eight weeks but your lease will determine the period.
Resales – shared owners
If you are a shared owner, there may be restrictions around selling your home. The lease will normally have a nomination period of 8 or 12 weeks during which you must give us the opportunity to sell your home. If we cannot sell it within the nomination period, you will be free to market it on the open market but your buyer must meet certain affordability criteria as your flat is classed as an affordable home. To find out more about eligibility criteria please visit: www.sharetobuy.com/london.
